Somewhat lost amid the euphoria of Tampa Catholic's trip to the state football finals was a milestone Monday night, when veteran Crusaders boys basketball coach Don Dziagwa earned his 300th career win.

Dziagwa, in his 19th season, improved to 300-245 with the Crusaders' 78-50 home romp of Clearwater Central Catholic. TC (4-0) is off to its best start in three seasons behind an eight-player rotation.

His last prominent team to feature only eight players? The 1994-95 squad, which won the Class 3A state title.

"They have embraced the team concept to the hilt and are really fun to watch," Dziagwa said. "It's a little bit old-school with the way they pass the ball and run the break and press. We'll see how long they can keep it going."
