Joey Ivie, Pasco (6-foot-4, 270 pounds)

The latest: Make that 18 offers for the junior defensive lineman, after Rutgers and Tennessee offered him Thursday morning, Pirates coach Tom McHugh said via Twitter. Vanderbilt added an offer later, McHugh said in a text message Thursday evening. Rutgers also visited with ATH Janarion Grant, who already holds an offer from the Scarlet Knights. Vandy and the Volunteers are Ivie’s second and third SEC offers in the last two days, after Mizzou offered him Wednesday.

Offers: UMass, Western Kentucky, Iowa State, FIU, Bowling Green, Purdue, Texas Tech, Miami, USF, Mississippi State, Georgia Southern, FSU, UF, West Virginia, Missouri, Rutgers, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

Last season: Ivie was second on the team with 53 tackles during the regular season. He also had eight sacks and forced two fumbles. He was at his best during the defensive line’s dominant performance against Jesuit in the Class 5A region final.

Bottom line: Ivie was one of Pasco’s most underrated players during its run to the state semifinal but is becoming a household name in recruiting circles. He’s strong and quick off the line and has great potential. Expect him to be one of Tampa Bay’s top linemen this season.
