Three Jesuit rising seniors — LHP John Kilichowski, RHP Jordan Parnell and INF/RHP Spencer Trayner — have been picked for a team that will represent the Southeast in next month's prestigious Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif.
The six-day event features eight regional teams — each representing a big-league club — consisting of the nation's top rising prep seniors, juniors and sophomores. The Jesuit trio will compete for the Washington Nationals.
The list of Area Code Games alumni reads like any given year's all-star roster: C.C. Sabathia, Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Prince Fielder, Roy Halladay and Ryan Braun.
Kilichowski (4-0, 0.83 ERA, four saves) and Trayner (.288 BA, 6-0, 0.69 ERA) were key contributors to last season's 28-2 squad that reached the Class 5A state tournament. Parnell made six pitching appearances, striking out 13 in 7.2 innings.
