Gibbs DE Tim Jackson said today he is taking an official visit to Mississippi State this weekend. In fact, he was on the plane when he texted the Times.

After recently dropping Stanford from consideration, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound standout said North Carolina and Wake Forest were his leaders. But he added that Vanderbilt and Mississippi State were still in the picture because he liked the idea of playing in the Southeastern Conference.

Mississippi State is coached by former Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen.

The Bulldogs also are recruiting Palm Harbor University OT Mark Hansson.
