Two River Ridge linemen picked for Blue-Grey all-star game

River Ridge offensive linemen Hayden Krautner and Kevin Harris have been selected to the Blue-Grey Classic high school football all-star game, Royal Knights coach Ryan Benjamin said Friday in a text message.

Krautner (6-foot-3, 300 pounds) and Harris (6-foot-1, 265 pounds) are anchors on a line that’s expected to be one of the best in the North Suncoast.  Harris had 25 tackles on defense last year, and Krautner had 12 to help River Ridge secure its first winning season since 1999.

Both players have earned raving reviews from Benjamin, a former lineman for USF who won a Super Bowl ring with the Bucs.

Last year’s Blue-Grey game was held at Raymond James Stadium in January. It included a pair of Pasco County linemen – Chris Schalles (Mitchell) and Jeff Kruse (Gulf).

River Ridge opens the regular season tonight against Fivay.
