Two Tampa Prep female swimmers have made their college choices.
Emma Siewert, a four-time member of the St. Petersburg Times' all-county swim team, will compete next year for the University of Pennsylvania, said head coach Jason Bowes. Siewert finished her high school career at the Class A state meet in November with a fifth-place finish in the 100 fly and a third-place finish as a member of both the 400 free and 200 free relay teams.
Fellow Tampa Prep senior Rebecca Werdine was also on the 200 free relay and 400 free relay teams, and she will swim next year for Louisiana State University, Bowes said. Werdine, the Times' 2010 female swimmer of the year, started her career at Plant before transferring to Tampa Prep before her junior season. In addition to her two third-place finishes on the relay teams, Werdine finished fifth in the 100 free and ninth in the 50 free. Werdine is also a four-year member of the all-county swim team.
