If Gulf QB/ATH Madison Burr doesn’t commit to either South Alabama or Wofford, it certainly won’t be because those programs didn’t give it their all.
“Those two schools just won’t go away,” Gulf coach Jay Fulmer said. “They feel like it’s imperative Madison is in their program, that he’s the perfect fit.”
Both schools are recruiting the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Burr as a QB.
Each has offered him a scholarship, as has Illinois State.
Fulmer said he is somewhat surprised more programs, particularly some of the bigger ones in the South (see USF) haven’t give Burr more attention. He plans on hitting the phones hard in the coming weeks in an attempt to drum up interest.
An exceptional athlete, Burr could also play either WR or DB in college.
Thus far, he has thrown for 595 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s also the team’s leading rusher with 411 yards on 72 carries.
Last week, Burr played WR and caught eight passes for 100 yards.
