When Texas Tech offered Pasco freshman Nate Craig last week, the wide receiver said he was speechless at landing an offer so early.

The recruiting floodgates have opened.

UMass became the second school to offer him a scholarship, Craig said Sunday in a text message. Craig is one of the earliest Tampa Bay prospects to receive an offer, as we wrote about in today’s paper.

Craig, a 6-3, 185-pound receiver/defensive back, has already gained attention as one of the country’s top potential recruits for the class of 2016. He led the Pirates with seven touchdown catches this fall.

His older brother, Josh Johnson, starred for Pasco and Purdue and is expected to be selected in this week’s NFL Draft.
