With Gerold Dickens resigning from Strawberry Crest on Wednesday, there are now six Hillsborough County high schools looking for new head football coaches.

Riverview hopes to choose between two finalists soon, said athletic director Kevin Massena. The Sharks are replacing Bruce Gifford, who had the position for three seasons before resigning Sept. 26 for health reasons. Riverview released its list of applicants to the Times Dec. 15.

Chamberlain, seeking a replacement for the retired Joe Severino, will hold initial interviews next week before narrowing down its list, athletic director Richard Scionti said. The names of the applicants were released Dec. 2, and the school hopes to have made a hire by the end of January, Scionti said.

Lennard released its list of applicants Dec. 16, and athletic director John Guarisco said the school has begun interviewing candidates. The Longhorns are replacing George Edington, who resigned Nov. 29 after four seasons.

Blake, which fired Harry Hubbard Dec. 13 after three seasons, posted its opening today. Brandon, which decided Dec. 15 to let go of John Lima after six seasons despite back-to-back playoff appearances, has not yet posted its opening.
