Plant junior James Wilder Jr., the star in the Panthers’ state championship game win last week over Bradenton Manatee, has been named second-team All-USA by USA Today.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder made the squad as a linebacker.
During the 2009 season, Wilder arguably was the area’s top all-around player. He not only was a sack machine on defense, but might have been the top running back, too.
Other notables to make the squad:
-DB/WR Matt Elam of Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer (Gator commit).
-LB Jeff Luc of Treasure Coast; USA Today accidentally listed the school as being in New Port Richey (Seminole commit).
-DB Lamarcus Joyner of Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (Seminole commit)
-OL Ian Silberman of Orange Park Fleming Island (Gator commit)
