Tampa Bay Tech RB Deon Thompson’s strong senior season has attracted some college attention. Utah State was expected to watch him play Gaither last week, and USF has been in regular contact with Thompson.

“Me and USF have been in a strong relationship,” Thompson said. “I think if anything goes down and they offer me late, that’ll be one of my choices. Stay at home. I’d like to build up that program, too, and take my leadership to them.”

The Bulls haven’t offered Thompson a scholarship yet, but he holds offers from Marshall, UMass, FAMU and Bethune-Cookman. He plans to visit Bethune in the coming weeks.

Florida International has also been recruiting him heavily lately. FIU has a commitment from one of his teammates, senior LB Fred Russ.

Thompson, a 5-foot-9, 181-pound athlete, has rushed for 718 yards and eight touchdowns this fall. The two-star recruit has also racked up 321 receiving yards on 17 catches with four TDs.
