Five days after shining at a one-day showcase of local offensive skill players, Alonso rising senior QB Brandon Hawkins received his first offer -- from Division I-AA Valparaiso.
Hawkins (6-foot-2, 185 pounds), son of former Leto QB Ty Hawkins, threw for 1,214 yards, 12 TDs and six interceptions for Alonso (6-4) last season. On Friday, he won the quarterbacks' skills challenge -- beating out some of the bay area's top passers -- at the John Kaleo QB Academy Skills Camp at Skyway Park.
Valparaiso, 1-10 last season, competes in the Pioneer Football League.
