Volleyball: Berkeley's Burgess, Dagostino are ESPN Rise All-Americans

The postseason honors continue to pile up for Berkeley Prep junior volleyball duo Jordan Burgess and MacKenzie Dagostino.

The pair has been named to the ESPN Rise Volleyball All-American Team, which was released Friday. Burgess was named to the12-player first-team, while Dagostino received second-team honors. They were the only players from Florida honored.

Burgess and Dagostino, a pair of Times All-Suncoast first-team selections who helped guide the Buccaneers to their second straight Class 3A state title this fall, were also among the 35 finalists for the PrepVolleyball.com National Junior of the Year Award.

Burgess, the Times’ All-Hillsborough County and All-Suncoast Player of the Year,  has already received a bevy of postseason honors, including the ESPNRise National Junior of the Year, Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Volleyball and the Gatorade Florida Player of the Year. She averaged 5.9 kills a game, 3.5 digs and 51 blocks. She also averaged 7.9 kills in two state tournament matches.

Dagostino, a setter committed to Maryland, set a new school record with 1,018 assists for a county-high 11.2 assists a game. She also registered a triple double in both state tournament games.
