Berkeley Prep junior outside hitter Sidney Brown will head to Croatia this summer to participate in the eighth annual European Global Challenge as a member of the USA Volleyball youth team.

Brown is the only player from Florida on the 12-person squad (six hail from California). The team will play approximately 10 matches from July 15-20. Last year's U.S. squad won the gold medal over the Czech Republic and will face the Russian Junior National Team, Slovenian Junior National Team, Czech Republic Junior and Youth National Teams, and club teams from Croatia, Romania, Italy and Montenegro.

Brown, a Times first-team all-Suncoast selection, averaged 3.7 kills 2.6 digs a game in her sophomore season at Berkeley Prep. She plays club volleyball with the Tampa Bay Juniors, run by recently retired Buccaneers coach Randy Dagostino
