Who says the preseason doesn't mean anything?

A pair of preseason losses last week was enough to bump five-time defending state champion Plant out of the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national volleyball rankings.

The Panthers, which were ranked No. 17 in last week’s preseason poll, dropped three-game matches to Venice and Fort Myers last week and fell out of the rankings completely.

Defending Class 3A state champion Berkeley Prep, which earned four-game preseason wins over Venice and Fort Myers last week, also dropped a spot to No. 3, while defending 5A champ East Lake fell two spots to No. 15.
