Thursday's volleyball match between Citrus and Wiregrass Ranch will showcase plenty of pink.

The idea is to bring attention to breast cancer awareness.

The hope, Bulls coach Mindy Kantor said, is to raise money to support breast cancer research. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Kantor scheduled the dedicated match after seeing a similar one at Hernando last season.

"We've had cancer that's affected people in my family and team members," Kantor said. "...The girls really wanted to do one this year."

Wiregrass will wear pink jerseys. Citrus girls will wear pink ribbons in their hair. Even the referees will wear pink polo shirts after Kantor said she received clearance from the Florida High School Athletic Association for them to do so.

The match begins at 7 and costs $3.

In addition, Wiregrass will accept donations that will be sent to the Side-Out Foundation. Kantor said she will donate her portion of the concession sales to Side-Out Foundation. Kantor also encouraged people to donate online at www.side-out.org.
