Wes Stearns, one of the area’s top swimmers and a key member of last year’s state championship squad for Palm Harbor University, has three leaders.

They are: Harvard, Virginia and Princeton.

As previously reported, he’s also considering Florida and Ohio State.

Stearns will visit UVA this weekend, and Princeton next weekend.

Stearns was the Class 3A champion in the 200 freestyle and runnerup in the 500 free as a junior, which explains why he’s a top recruit. Having excellent grades hasn’t hurt him, either.

In the most recent rankings of the nation’s best universities, U.S. News & World Report had Harvard and Princeton tied for No. 1. UVA was 24th.
