The past few weeks have been frustrating for Wesley Chapel coach Chuck Yingling.

“We’ve been inconsistent at the plate and making decision,” he said. “This tournament (Big Sun), there was none of that.”

The result was a tournament title after Thursday’s 9-5 win over Land O’Lakes. The teams will hook up again Wednesday night in a regular-season game.

Yingling left Ocala hoping the four games won there would serve as a momentum booster.

“It seems like the last two years, the tournaments wake us up,” Yingling said. “…We swung the bats extremely well against Jason (Garcia). We executed some plays. It’s one of those days we did everything right basically.”

Land O’Lakes coach Calvin Baisley said his kids would regroup soon after the bus made its way down I-75.

“You don’t like to lose,” Baisley said. “Kids don’t like to lose. They got a couple in the first and we unraveled defensively.”
