Wharton's Vernon Hargreaves has a top 5 and USF isn't on it

Vernon Hargreaves, ranked as the top cornerback in the state by many recruiting services and one of the top overall recruits in the country, announced on Twitter Friday afternoon that he has pared his lengthy list of suitors down to five.

Making the cut for the 5-star rated Hargreaves, a rising senior at Wharton, is: Notre Dame, Florida, Clemson, Vanderbilt and Miami.

Josh Newberg of 247Sports says that the schools are in order, putting the Gators as the leader for Hargreaves. He quotes Hargreaves: ""Number one is Florida, two is Clemson, three is Vanderbilt, four is Miami and five is Notre Dame."

Surprisingly, USC and USF weren't on the list. After a recent visit to USC, he proclaimed on Twitter it was his favorite. And Hargreaves' father, also named Vernon, is an assistant coach at USF, which did not make the list either.

Hargreaves did add he was still considering the Bulls. To read Newberg's story, click here.

Here's a video from last year's Sling-N-Shoot, at the time when Hargreaves only had two offers, from USF and FSU.
