The quarterback position at Zephyrhills is in flux after starter Jacob Smith and often-used backup Chris Reaves were both injured in the Bulldogs 59-0 loss to Sunlake on Friday.
Smith was taken out of the game after a "possible concussion" according to Zephyrhills coach Reggie Roberts. Reaves injured his back in the same contest.
Who will be the starting quarterback when the 0-6 Bulldogs host Wesley Chapel this Friday is a question that even Roberts can't answer.
"We're unsure right now," he said. "Both Jacob and Chris were at the doctor's. Whether they can play or not on Friday is still up in the air."
The already depleted Bulldogs are down to about 23 players according to Roberts. He said if Smith or Reaves are unable to go Friday, junior Jamal Roberts could get the starting nod. Or the Bulldogs might have to convert another player to take snaps under center.
"It's a day-to-day situation for us," Roberts said. "It's probably going to be a decision we make on Thursday."
