The Wildcat Fast Times meet has been one of the North Suncoast's top track and field events for several seasons.

Give Wesley Chapel coach Brian Colding a little credit for identifying the obvious. On Thursday, he checked local weather forecasts and decided to preemptively postpone the event.

Two years ago, the Fast Times was run in sloppy conditions and the event criticized. Times staff writer Joey Knight labeled it "the Wet 'N Wild Fast Times." There was little accomplished other than the completion of the meet. Times and distances were barely worth recording.

Colding didn't want to simply scrap this year's event so he moved it to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The meet will suffer with several teams from out of county opting to skip the makeup date. Wesley Chapel, Land O'Lakes, Pasco, Ridgewood, Sunlake, Tampa Catholic, Zephyrhills and Freedom's boys team have all indicated they will participate.
