Add Newsome swingman Samal Shepherd to the bulging list of local basketball players to reach the 1,000-point mark for their career.

During holiday tournament action, Shepherd (1,271 points) passed former Wolves star Dylan Fugate (1,070) as Newsome's alltime scoring leader. He enters Friday's game against East Bay as the Wolves' leader in points (17.3 ppg), rebounds (6.3 rpg) and steals (2.0 spg).

Other local boys players to reach the 1,000-point mark this season: Tampa Prep's Jamal Cherry and Jay Bowie, and Freedom's Tyler Guy.
