Armwood junior QB Darryl Richardson, who had a noble, nationally televised performance in his first varsity start, will have an X-ray Monday morning for an injured right knee.
It is believed Richardson sustained the injury early in Friday's 20-17 victory at fellow nationally ranked foe Las Vegas Bishop Gorman. Though Coach Sean Callahan said the extent of the damage is unclear, it is not feared to be season-threatening.
Richardson's knee was shrouded in a protective black brace upon the team's return Saturday night to Tampa.
A 6-foot-5 right-hander who had collected a handful of Division I offers before starting a varsity contest, Richardson finished with 155 total yards Friday. He completed six of 13 passes for 118 yards including a 66-yard TD pass to classmate Alvin Bailey.
Bailey, who finished with 113 yards on five catches, would start in Richardson's place Friday against Brandon if X-rays reveal significant damage.
