Turns out Zephyrhills junior Jamieshia Parker will be back soon.

Parker suffered what her mother, Dee Dee Parker, called a mild sprain during the Sunshine Athletic Conference track and field meet Tuesday afternoon. At first, the injury to Jamieshia's right knee during the long jump was feared to be season-ending.

"She's fine," Dee Dee Parker said. "She'll be back after spring break. ...Nothing happened. I think she probably pulled a muscle."

Jamieshia, who was the Times' North Suncoast girls track athlete of the year in 2009, went to a local emergency room where she was seen by an orthopedic surgeon, Dee Dee Parker said.

After a brief evaluation, Jamieshia was sent home where she remained Wednesday on bed rest and medicine. Dee Dee said her daughter will return to school Thursday, and is wearing a knee brace.
