Kimye's wedding: May 24

A spokeswoman at the Florence mayor's office says Kim Kardashian and Kayne West will get married at Florence's 16th-century Belvedere Fort on May 24. Spokeswoman Elisa Di Lupo says the couple rented the fort for 300,000 euros ($410,000). Di Lupo said a Protestant minister will preside. The 36-year-old rapper proposed to the reality star on her 33rd birthday in October, renting out San Francisco's AT&T Park for the occasion. This is the first marriage for West, but it's the third trip down the aisle for Kardashian. In an interview with Florence's La Nazione newspaper Friday, West extolled the beauty of Florence and said he was "very excited" about the nuptials next weekend. — Associated Press

Geek alert: 'Star Wars VII' seems to start filming

Yep, it's really happening. Apparently indicating the start of filming, new Jedi director J.J. Abrams' company Bad Robot tweeted this picture of a film slate and "#dayone." No further details were provided, including a locale. Speculation online was that sand sprinkled in the photo hints at Abu Dhabi. — Times staff

Kelly Rowland marries manager

Well, we know what Beyonce and Solange have been up to since The Great Elevator Freakout of 2014. The sisters have been hanging out in Costa Rica with former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland, at least long enough for her "quick, simple (wedding) ceremony." Us Weekly says the Kisses Down Low singer wed manager Tim Witherspoon on May 9. About 30 guests attended, including Carmelo and LaLa Anthony, as well as Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams and Beyonce's mom.
