A solo crossing of Antarctica

British adventurer Felicity Aston became the first woman to ski alone across Antarctica on Monday, persevering for 59 days in near-total solitude. Aston 34, made it to her destination ahead of schedule by three days, using nothing but her own strength to cover 1,084 miles from her starting point on the Leverett Glacier on Nov. 25 to Hercules Inlet. "I'm still reeling from the shock of it that I've made it this far. I honestly didn't think I'd be getting here," she told the Associated Press.

At Hearst Castle, 'Citizen Kane'

The 1941 film Citizen Kane will be shown at Hearst Castle, the elaborate estate in San Simeon, Calif., built by the newspaper magnate who inspired Orson Welles' cinema classic. The Los Angeles Times reported that the movie will be shown March 9 as part of a film festival and has the blessing of William Randolph Hearst's family. When it was released, Hearst sought to derail the movie, which portrayed the rise and fall of an obsessively controlling character.
