THIS OLD HOUSE — UP ON BLOCKS — FRUSTRATES ST. PETERSBURG NEIGHBORS, CITY

It's been almost two years since Mark Taber moved his 81-year-old house in July 2015 from St. Petersburg's Old Northeast to the rapidly gentrifying Historic Uptown District. Although he had sold the valuable lot, he wanted to save the 1,400-square-foot house because he had once lived in it and still had sentimental ties to it. The idea was to enlarge the house at its new location at 721 9th Ave. N, totally remodel it and either sell it or rent it. That was in January 2016. Since then, the project has turned into the housing equivalent of an old car up on blocks.

RAYS' RISK ASSESSMENT: BACKGROUNDING DEREK NORRIS

When asking around about new Rays catcher Derek Norris, you hear that some pitchers didn't like throwing to him. That he wasn't the best of teammates. That he doesn't take blame and will point fingers. That people who don't usually talk bad of others admit he's "not a good guy." This is where you have to hope the Rays did well on their extensive homework before signing Norris, Marc Topkin writes.
