FORT PIERCE

Dead and starving animals found in woman's house

St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a woman on Florida's Atlantic coast after they found malnourished and dead animals, including a starving wolf, in her home.

Michele Nunziata, 40, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with animal cruelty after her landlord called them to the house because of the smell. Her bond was set at $42,500.

Animal control officers say they found a malnourished wolf and Doberman lying in feces and three dead dogs locked in a kennel.

Authorities say Nunziata told them that she euthanized the dogs on Saturday and was too upset to remove them. She had no permit for the wolf.

A Jacksonville contractor has been arrested for selling air conditioning units on craigslist that had been stolen from businesses and apartment complexes.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda says 30-year-old Kimble Starr Butler was arrested on June 18. He was being held Tuesday in the Duval County Jail on $175,000 bond and charged with grand theft, trafficking in stolen property, dealing in stolen property and criminal mischief.

Authorities say Butler was charging customers $650 to $1,600. He was arrested two days after a witness saw a pickup drive away from an apartment complex with two air conditioning units in the back.

Man beaten, robbed by cop impersonators

Two men impersonating police officers pulled a man over in South Florida, beat him using a firearm and stole his money.

Police say the man, Allen Davis, is in good condition after the early Tuesday beating in northwest Miami-Dade County.

Authorities say the men, who were in a dark blue vehicle, forcibly removed Davis from his car, beat him with a firearm, took an undisclosed amount of money and property from the car and fled.

They identified themselves as police officers.

JENSEN BEACH

Man sprays, elbows wife in battery case

A Jensen Beach man has been charged with domestic battery after allegedly drenching his wife with a garden hose and elbowing her for smoking in the house.

An arrest report shows that 51-year-old John Jeffrey Murray was charged Saturday in this east coast city south of Fort Pierce. Police say the couple began arguing when Murray's wife was smoking a cigarette in their home.

When the victim picked up the phone and began calling a friend, authorities say Murray believed she was trying to call police and elbowed her in the mouth during a struggle to grab the phone.

The woman was soaked with water when deputies arrived. Murray told deputies he had been watering the grass and did not intend to spray her.
