TRIP TO TOILET LEADS TO A FALL ON INTERSTATE
A 55-year-old Alabama woman was seriously injured Tuesday when she tried to go to the bathroom in the motor home she was riding in and instead fell out onto Interstate 10 near Pensacola. Sharon Glover had been drinking, the Florida Highway Patrol said, but it was unclear if she opened the wrong door or leaned on the exit door. She slid 100 feet on the pavement.
Cuffed suspect escapes into bay
Authorities were searching Wednesday for a handcuffed suspect who jumped into a Biscayne Bay to get away from police. Authorities arrested the unidentified man around 3 a.m. after reports of someone breaking into cars. Miami police spokesman Napier Velazquez said that as police tried to put the man into a squad car, he bolted. The Coast Guard sent a helicopter and boat to look for him.
Woman forces kids into crime
A southwest Florida woman is accused of forcing four children to commit crimes for her. She made the children buy drugs for her, beating them if they refused, and forced one into prostitution, officials say. She faces charges of aggravated child abuse and forced labor or services by human trafficking. She also is accused of leaving them unsupervised and withholding food for disobeying.
Teens refuse plea deal in burning
Lawyers for teens Matthew Bent, Denver Jarvis, and Jesus Mendez, have rejected a plea deal on charges that they set another boy on fire in Deerfield Beach last year. They are charged as adults with attempted murder. Authorities say the three doused Michael Brewer, 16, with rubbing alcohol in October and set him afire. He was burned over most of his body.
