Jackpot claimed
The man who bought one of two winning tickets in the $380 million Mega Millions lottery claimed his half of the jackpot in Olympia, Wash., on Wednesday. Jim McCullar then handed over the oversized check to his wife, Carolyn. "We've been married 41 years," he said. "I know what to do with this check." The other winning ticket was sold in Idaho, but the winner has yet to step forward. In Washington, where no state taxes apply, the lump sum payment would be $90 million after the 25 percent federal tax. In Idaho, after paying state and federal taxes, the winner can collect a nearly $81 million lump sum payment.
