New job, new underwear

THE WEEK THAT WAS

WINNER: Hillsborough County

The long-awaited deal for a big Amazon warehouse goes through. It will bring 1,000 full-time jobs to the Ruskin area.

LOSER: Tampa Bay's two biggest public companies

Tech Data fights delisting on Nasdaq; Jabil Circuit will lose $2 billion in revenue from cutting ties with BlackBerry.

Listing a new job on LinkedIn typically prompts congratulations from friends and relatives, but 25,000 members of the professional networking platform are also about to get a change of underwear. In a promotion by Fruit of the Loom, users who get new jobs will receive a LinkedIn message that says: "We're all excited for you about the new gig. To show you this, we're hooking you up with a complimentary pair of Fruit of the Loom. Because great-fitting underwear can help you start your workday in a great mood." Said Fruit of the Loom vice president Scott Greene: "What you put on first thing in the morning really can have a positive impact on your day." Recipients of the "Fresh Gigs" offer will select a size and style of underwear and will be asked if they care to share the transaction over LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. They also get a $5 coupon. — New York Times
