Greer asks judge to throw out charges

Ousted Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer is asking a judge to throw out most of the criminal charges filed against him earlier this year by Florida's statewide prosecutor. Greer filed a motion Thursday to dismiss five of the six charges he is facing. Greer was indicted in June on felony charges including theft and organized fraud.

Remains found in storage unit

Human remains have been found in a storage unit rented by the mother of a missing 11-year-old. Tia McShane, who had cerebral palsy, has been missing since at least 2007. Authorities began an intense search for the girl after her father learned that his estranged wife had died in June. According to the Pensacola News Journal, neighbors said the mother had turned the girl over to foster care in Alabama, but Alabama officials have no record of that. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office said the child's Medicaid has not been used since 2006, and that was the last time a doctor's visit was made. Deputies haven't identified the body yet.
