MANGO — Deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a home on Six Mile Creek Road.
Emergency responders got a 911 call from the 60-year-old son of Eloise P. Bailey, 87, and her husband, James G. Bailey, 88, to come to their home at 9912 Six Mile Creek Road at 11:45 a.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Inside the home, the Baileys were both dead with gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Detectives said it appears James Bailey shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
The Baileys' son regularly checked on his parents, and he had spoken to them Saturday morning before he made the discovery, said Larry McKinnon, a spokesman for the sheriff's office. Eloise Bailey may have been ill, according to preliminary information.
Autopsies will be conducted by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office.
