Prince Harry coming to U.S. for military training

SAN DIEGO — Prince Harry, or Capt. Harry Wales of the British Army Air Corps, is bound for the desert of Southern California and Arizona for helicopter pilot training.

The prince's military unit is set to participate in an exercise for Apache helicopter pilots that is called Crimson Eagle.

As the younger son of Prince Charles and as the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, 26-year-old Prince Harry is third in line for the British crown.

Prince Harry served two months with British forces in Afghanistan, and the British media have suggested that the helicopter training is in preparation for redeployment to Afghanistan.

When the prince might arrive is unknown. U.S. and British military spokesmen won't reveal a date.

Prince Harry's website says he will be attending the seventh annual WellChild Award ceremony in London to present an award next week.
