Sen. Marco Rubio's daughter home from hospital after golf cart crash

MIAMI — The 12-year-old daughter of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has left the hospital and is recovering at home from a head injury suffered in a golf cart accident.

The senator's spokesman, Alex Conant, said Amanda Rubio was released from Miami Children's Hospital on Sunday evening. She had been airlifted to the hospital a day earlier.

The golf cart she was riding in was involved in a collision Saturday in a private gated community. A Miami-Dade police report said the cart ran into two metal mailboxes and one of them flew through the windshield of the vehicle, striking the girl on the head. The name and age of the person driving the cart was redacted from the report.

Conant said Rubio's daughter is expected to make a full recovery.
