The Day has arrived
Is Green Day the biggest band in the world? You could certainly make a case for the NoCal pop-punks. But you could also make a case for Coldplay, U2, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and five other bands that are coming to Tampa Bay in the next three months. Get a preview of Monday's big Green Day show at the St. Pete Times Forum, then check out our rundown of the 10 most mega concerts coming to Tampa Bay this fall, on PageS 25-26.
Rida's in the building
The Rays' much-ballyhooed postgame-concert winning streak ended this month with Smash Mouth. (We could have predicted that in advance.) Can they get back on track with one of the Sunshine State's favorite sons? Hip-hop hitmaker Flo Rida will get low, low, low, low at Tropicana Field on Friday night. Check out our interview with Flo on Page 24.
'Summer' of love
Our reviewer, Steve Persall, calls it his favorite movie of the year. But what makes the new flick (500) Days of Summer so different than every other conventional romantic comedy in cinema history? Realistic characters, a nontraditional story structure and a killer soundtrack, for starters. Page 38.
Lewis, in black
Richard Lewis' trademark dark suits perfectly fit his dark style of comedy. And his dark style of comedy made him a perfect fit for Curb Your Enthusiasm. You can check him out Monday at Floyd's at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. For details on this show — as well as another 'Richard' that's gonna rock Tampa Bay this weekend — see Page 36.
