Longtime 97X listeners know that the station's biggest event of the year, Next Big Thing, is also usually not its last. They usually throw one more free concert in late December, just as a thank-you to fans.
Right on schedule, we've got one coming -- with a twist.
Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins will headline a free acoustic concert on Dec. 21 at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg. Also performing: Barns Courtney and Blue October singer Justin Furstenfeld. The event, dubbed "97X-Mas," is not the first time the station has thrown an acoustic show, but it's still a fun twist.
The show is free, but open only to ages 21 and up, and you do need a ticket to enter. Ticket drops begin Thursday in Tampa and continue, for now, through Dec. 20. And just having a ticket does not guarantee admission -- it's first come, first served. Click here for details and a list of ticket drop locations.
Considering Third Eye Blind has gone from '90s punchline to a fairly beloved cult act in recent years, it's easy to see how this show will draw a lot of fans, especially considering Jenkins doesn't play acoustic shows all that often. It might not be the way you're used to hearing Semi-Charmed Life and Jumper, but it's still a nice pre-holiday treat.
