A look at Florida’s past lottery jackpot winners

A small group of very lucky people have taken home Powerball or Mega Millions jackpots in Florida in recent years. Aside from sudden wealth, they share one thing in common: They all took lump sum payments.

The Florida Lottery lists winners of its various contests online, showing who won, where, when and how much. Below, see the exclusive club that 20-year-old Shane Missler, recently of Port Richey, joined Friday when he claimed a $451 million Mega Millions jackpot. He took a lump sum payment of $281.9 million, which comes out to $211.4 million after federal taxes are withheld.

IF YOU WIN: Lump sum or annual payment — what should you do?
