Business looks to open doors for vets across Tampa Bay

Steve Deveaux always knew it was his passion and duty to help veterans transition into civilian workforce.

As the grandson of a WWII and Korean War Army veteran, he witnessed firsthand the sacrifice and work ethic of veterans at a young age.

So, he and his fiancee Danielle Woodruff decided to expand the JDog Junk Removal business from Pennsylvania to Tampa and continue to pay it forward.

Tampa’s huge military presence certainly is a draw.

"Some have dreams of owning their own business, but some may not have the funds to do so, so we like to be that resource for them with entrepreneurial opportunities to own a portion of our company," Deveaux said.

"By offering jobs to veterans, we’re privileged to support those who have supported our freedom," Woodruff said.

JDog Junk Removal cleans up the community in eco-friendly ways by removing junk from both residential and commercial locations and either donating or recycling the items they collect.

Other services include light hauling, selective demolition and labor services, and they take items like appliances and furniture, garage trash, outdoor and yard debris, construction debris, and office and warehouse items.

Deveaux plans to create 75 jobs for veterans in South West Florida by opening 18 more sites between Tampa and Naples.

JDog Junk Removal Tampa celebrated its grand opening at the South Tampa Elks Lodge Thursday (June 14) with a ribbon cutting by the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce.

All donations from raffle tickets went to the Elks Lodge No. 708’s Veterans Services Committee, which supports veterans in South Tampa.
