The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay will host its fourth annual "Beer and Bow Ties" event to raise money to support its suicide prevention and awareness efforts from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 14) at the Orlo House & Ballroom, 315 S Plant Ave. After individually experiencing the loss of a loved one to suicide, friends Brent Kraus and Kim Randall started this event to help provide resources for suicide prevention and awareness, and help those coping with mental health issues. "The event is meant to be a platform to get the conversation started around suicide prevention," said Brent Kraus."It is our goal to remove the negative stigma surrounded by mental health and suicide because every life is worth living."All proceeds from the fundraising event directly support outreach and support programs for the Tampa Bay community at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay."Suicide has been identified as a nation-wide epidemic and suicide prevention events, like Beer and Bow Ties, provides our community with the chance to discuss suicide and behavioral health issues openly while reducing the stigma that these topics often invoke," said Crisis Center president and CEO, Clara Reynolds in a prepared statement.This year’s event includes beer and beverage tastings from White Claw, Swamp Head Brewery, Marker 48, Maeloc Hard Cider, Estrella Galicia, Heineken, 3 Daughters Brewing, 81 Bay Brewing, Franklin Manor, Fireball, Code Rum, Dulce Vida, Blue Chair Bay, Don Q, Banyan Reserve Vodka, Three Olives Vodka, Oak & Palm, and Old St. Pete.Also, Acropolis, Anise, Butcher & Barbeque, SoFresh, Frankie’s Lobstah Trap, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and District Tavern will provide small tastings. General admission tickets cost $100 and includes craft beer from local vendors, spirits, and tapas from local restaurants. VIP tickets cost $150 and come with added access to two private lounges with seating, a private bartender, and early admittance into the event.
