This month, HCA West Florida will open two free standing emergency rooms: one in Lutz and one in Temple Terrace.
ER 24/7, at 1430 Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz, is a department of Medical Center of Trinity. ER 24/7 at 5234 E Fowler Ave. in Temple Terrace is a department of Brandon Regional Hospital.
Both locations are scheduled to open by the end of January, and are both notably close to existing larger hospitals. The Lutz location is about 5 miles north of St. Josephís North on Van Dyke Road, and the Temple Terrace location is a short 3-mile drive from Florida Hopsital on Fletcher Avenue.
Asked to comment on the competitive locations, an HCA West Florida spokesman sent a response that didnít directly address the inquiry.
"Both ERs are designed to enhance access to a full-service emergency room in these popular and growing communities," said J.C. Sadler, spokesperson for HCA West Florida. "We will soon be sharing our average ER wait times, like we do at our other ERs, as part of our commitment to delivering high quality, expedient care."
Compared to a traditional hospital emergency department, officials said, the free standing ER 24/7 expects to offer patients less congestion, shorter wait times, less ambulance traffic, and easier access with adjacent parking. There are separate reception areas for adults and kids.
"Itís an ER with every service that a typical ER would have," said Christine Sanchez, Director of Emergency Services for Medical Center of Trinity. "We have CT Scan, we have a dedicated lab, we have X-rays, and we have all the resuscitation equipment that we need."
ER 24/7 is staffed by physicians Board Certified in Emergency Care and nurses with emergency care experience and certifications.
Both locations will operate daily 24 hours a day. For more information, visit lutzer.com or brandonhospital.com.
