Veteran returns from Honor Flight trip: Brooksville resident Charles McCaffrey, 91, a World War II veteran, was among the participants in the final Villages Honor Flight for 2017 on Oct. 18. McCaffrey was one of 70 area veterans to travel to Washington, D.C., to see the WWII Memorial and other monuments. The flight, the organization\u0092s 37th, serves veterans from the Central Florida counties of Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter. Each veteran received a volunteer guardian to assist them. The trip is free for veterans; guardians and staffers pay their own way. The day-long trip concluded with a welcome home celebration at American Legion Post 347.
