Palm Harbor gymnast wins visit from bobsled Olympian: Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO), a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, announced Gabriella Weisberg, a gymnast from Palm Harbor, as the winner of its "Clutch Performance" contest. The contest, which ran during the Olympic Winter Games 2018, was designed to celebrate the "clutch performance" of parents who support and drive the dreams of young athletes every day. Weisberg, 11, was chosen from more than 350 entries. Her winning entry was submitted by her mother, Angela Weisberg, who drives Gabriella to and from her many gymnastics practices and competitions each week. As the winner, Gabriella and her team at Future Flipz gym will receive a visit May 15 from PyeongChang 2018 silver medalist and three-time bobsled Olympian Elana Meyers Taylor.

m St. Petersburg student earns Eagle Scout rank: Matthew Beal, son of Robert and Jennifer Beal, recently achieved the Boy Scouts' highest rank of Eagle Scout. Beal, 18, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 337. He has held numerous leadership positions including Quartermaster, Troop Guide, Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader and has earned 41 merit badges.

Elks Lodge grants two scholarships: The St. Petersburg Elks Lodge 1224 presented two scholarship winners with $1,500 each. Sophia Augyst-Laulette, 18, a senior at Boca Ciega High School, will pursue a degree in nursing at State College of Florida. Tyler Grohn, 18, is a senior at Osceola High School. Tyler will pursue a degree in marine biology at Florida International University.
