Live Oak Theatre Company recently opened the doors to its new home in Brooksville with a two-week performing arts summer camp for youth. The camp, which opened June 18 and continues through June 29, received overwhelming response and is filled to capacity, organizers say. Campers learned various aspects of musical theater, including acting skills, stage make-up, choreography, improv techniques, costume and set design, and vocal techniques.
The Live Oak Theatre Center for the Arts is at 21030 Cortez Blvd., in the two-story Tudor-style building once occupied by the Hernando County Utilities Department. The nonprofit organization purchased the facility for $500,000, with closing held on May 4. The company will begin a full season of musical theater performances this fall at the new building and plans to make the building available for private events.
