Now running for Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, 39, has won the backing of President Donald Trump, billionaire donors across the country, and by many accounts is the most likely Republican nominee to lead America’s third-largest state. For many high-end condo buyers, nothing can beat the urban buzz of downtown St. Petersburg and especially Beach Drive. Then there are those who would rather walk along a real beach instead of a row of restaurants. Who would rather see a pelican out their windows than the pilings of a $75 million pier. Those are the kind of buyers drawn to a place like Sunset Pointe at Collany Key, Susan Taylor Martin writes.

FLU SEASON IS STILL WORSENING; IT’S NOW AS BAD AS 2009 SWINE FLU

The flu has further tightened its grip on the U.S. This season is now as bad as the swine flu epidemic nine years ago. A government report out Friday shows 1 of every 13 visits to the doctor last week was for fever, cough and other symptoms of the flu. That ties the highest level seen in the U.S. during swine flu in 2009.
