HOTEL PROJECT PROPOSED FOR JOHN’S PASS

A major Clearwater-based hotel developer wants to build a $25-30 million, six-story, 78-suite hotel and 297-space parking garage in John’s Pass Village in a public-private partnership with the city. But based on initial discussions during a public workshop Tuesday, most city commissioners, on record for their opposition to a previous commission’s approval of two other pending hotel projects, are not exactly thrilled.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND TRAVELERS FACE HIGHEST GAS PRICES SINCE 2014

The final travel holiday of the summer is upon us, and soon, its traffic will be, too. About 2 million Floridians are expected to travel for Labor Day Weekend according to AAA, The Auto Club Group, and motorists hitting the road for the long weekend will face some of the highest gas prices since 2014.

SHARES OF TAMPA BAY’S BIGGEST PUBLIC COMPANY PLUNGE 17 PERCENT AFTER MISSING EARNINGS TARGET

The share price for Tech Data hit $74 in early trading down from $88.60, where it closed Wednesday. Before Thursday’s drop, the share price was already down about 9.5 percent since the start of the year.
