All generations invited to community conversation

It's time for the generations to come together and help each other out.

That's what Jack Levine, founder of 4Generations Institute, had in mind when he teamed up with a host of sponsors, including the Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions at St. Petersburg College and the Tampa Bay Times, to plan a community conversation.

The event, "Our Families' Four Generations: Ready or Not, Here We Are," free and open to the public, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. June 17 at SPC's Seminole Campus, 9200 113th St. N. Its aims are to:

• Heighten awareness about the value of connecting the generations;

• Promote dialogue between the generations;

• Develop volunteer opportunities across generations;

• Promote public policy initiatives that improve the quality of life for all ages.

"The purpose in gathering is to discuss ways different age groups can know each other better and relate in stronger ways," Levine said. "Isolation and separation are not good."
