Every year, the Times publishes an extensive list of drug and health plans so readers can make informed decisions on what kind of Medicare coverage they want for the following year.
Until now, we've always brought you this information before Medicare's "open enrollment'' period began so you could plow through it a few weeks before you actually could sign up.
This year is different.
Medicare has moved up its enrollment period. It begins Oct. 15 and ends Dec. 7. If you don't pick a plan for 2012 within that time period, Medicare will renew your present arrangement.
Medicare was not scheduled to release information about the plans until after publication of this issue.
The Times will publish the charts in the next issue of LifeTimes on Oct. 26, giving you a full six weeks to make your choice before the Dec. 7 deadline.
