The future of Medicare, a point of discussion for the candidates during this month's presidential debates, will be the subject of a community conversation Thursday in St. Petersburg hosted by the Tampa Bay Times and AARP.
The event is part of AARP's You've Earned a Say initiative, which the organization says will take the debate about the future of Social Security and Medicare into communities across the country to give citizens a voice on the issues.
Florida AARP state director Jeff Johnson will moderate the audience discussion, and PolitiFact Florida editor Angie Holan will talk about the Times' Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking website.
The event, which is free, will be 6-7:30 p.m. at the Poynter Institute, 801 Third St. S, St. Petersburg. Seating is limited.
To register, contact AARP toll-free at 1-877-926-8300 or online at aarp.cvent.com/FLTalk, or call the Times at (727) 893-8215. Free parking is also available.
Bay News 9 will record the forum to air on Bay News 9 On Demand, Channel 342 on Bright House Networks digital cable.
