ST. PETERSBURG — A 51-year-old Clearwater man who decided to take a 3 a.m. walk in North Shore Park was badly beaten by three men who then stole his car.

Robert Anthony Clements, of 6700 150th Ave. N, sustained a broken jaw and facial fractures, according to St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.

Clements told police had been visiting a friend near the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club when he decided to take a walk at North Shore Park. He saw three men sitting on a bench and was later attacked from behind by them. Clements said he could not tell if they used weapons.

The suspects stole his silver 2002 Dodge pickup as Clements ran to the resort and sought help from a valet, Kajtsa said.
